BNV : শয়তান ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের বিপক্ষে ছিল| তার প্ররোচনায় পা দিয়ে দায়ূদ ইস্রায়েলে আদমশুমারি করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.
YLT : And there standeth up an adversary against Israel, and persuadeth David to number Israel,
RV : And Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.

ERVEN : Satan was against the Israelites. He encouraged David to count the Israelites.

BNV : তিনি য়োয়াব ও ইস্রায়েলের নেতাদের ডেকে বললেন, “যাও বের্-শেবা থেকে দান পর্য়ন্ত সমগ্র ইস্রায়েলের জনসংখ্যা গণনা করে আমাকে জানাও| আমি যাতে বুঝতে পারি এদেশে মোট কত জন বাস করে|”
KJV : And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer- sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know [it. ]
YLT : And David saith unto Joab, and unto the heads of the people, `Go, number Israel from Beer-Sheba even unto Dan, and bring unto me, and I know their number.`
RV : And David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know the sum of them.

ERVEN : So David said to Joab and the leaders of the people, "Go and count all the Israelites. Count everyone in the country— from the town of Beersheba all the way to the town of Dan. Then tell me, so I will know how many people there are."

BNV : কিন্তু য়োয়াব উত্তর দিলেন, “প্রভু তাঁর লোকদের শতগুণ বাড়িযে চলুন! মহারাজ, ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত বাসিন্দাই তো আপনার অনুগত ভৃত্য| কেন আপনি এই কাজ করতে চাইছেন? আপনি সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়দের পাপের ভাগী করবেন|”
KJV : And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they [be:] but, my lord the king, [are] they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?
YLT : And Joab saith, `Jehovah doth add to His people as they are a hundred times; are they not, my lord, O king, all of them to my lord for servants? why doth my lord seek this? why is he for a cause of guilt to Israel?`
RV : And Joab said, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord-s servants? why doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of guilt unto Israel?
RSV : But Joab said, "May the LORD add to his people a hundred times as many as they are! Are they not, my lord the king, all of them my lord's servants? Why then should my lord require this? Why should he bring guilt upon Israel?"
ASV : And Joab said, Jehovah make his people a hundred times as many as they are: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lords servants? why doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of guilt unto Israel?
ESV : But Joab said, "May the LORD add to his people a hundred times as many as they are! Are they not, my lord the king, all of them my lord's servants? Why then should my lord require this? Why should it be a cause of guilt for Israel?"
ERVEN : But Joab answered, "May the Lord make his nation 100 times as large! Sir, all the Israelites are your servants. Why do you want to do this thing, my lord and king? You will make all the Israelites guilty of sin!"

BNV : কিন্তু রাজা দায়ূদ তাঁর সিদ্ধান্তে অনড় থাকায় য়োয়াব তাঁর আদেশ মানতে বাধ্য হলেন| তিনি সমগ্র ইস্রায়েলে ঘুরে ঘুরে জনসংখ্যা গুনে আবার জেরুশালেমে ফিরে খবর দিলেন য়ে
KJV : Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
YLT : And the word of the king [is] severe against Joab, and Joab goeth out, and goeth up and down in all Israel, and cometh in to Jerusalem.

KJV : And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all [they of] Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah [was] four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.
YLT : And Joab giveth the account of the numbering of the people unto David, and all Israel is a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand, each drawing sword, and Judah [is] four hundred and seventy thousand, each drawing sword.

ESV : And Joab gave the sum of the numbering of the people to David. In all Israel there were 1,100,000 men who drew the sword, and in Judah 470,000 who drew the sword.
ERVEN : and told David how many people there were. In Israel there were 1,100,000 men who could use a sword. And there were 470,000 men in Judah who could use a sword.

BNV : রাজা দায়ূদের নির্দেশ মনঃপুত না হওয়ায য়োয়াব লেবি ও বিন্যামীন পরিবারের বংশধরদের জনসংখ্যা গণনা করেন নি|
KJV : But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.
YLT : And Levi and Benjamin he hath not numbered in their midst, for the word of the king was abominable with Joab.

KJV : And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.
YLT : And it is evil in the eyes of God concerning this thing, and He smiteth Israel,

BNV : দায়ূদ তারপর ঈশ্বরকে বললেন, “আমি মূর্খের মতো জনসংখ্যা গণনা করে গুরুতর পাপ করেছি| এখন আমি তোমায় অনুনয় করছি, তুমি আমায়, তোমার দাসকে এই পাপ থেকে মুক্ত কর|”
KJV : And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
YLT : and David saith unto God, `I have sinned exceedingly, in that I have done this thing; and now, cause to pass away, I pray Thee, the iniquity of Thy servant, for I have acted very foolishly.`
RV : And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing: but now, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

ERVEN : Then David said to God, "I have done something very foolish. I have done a very bad sin by counting the Israelites. Now, I beg you to take the sin away from me, your servant."

BNV : প্রভু তখন দায়ূদের ভাব্বাদী গাদকে বললেন, “যাও দায়ূদকে গিয়ে বল: ‘প্রভু এই কথা বলেছেন: তোমাকে শাস্তি দেবার জন্য আমি তিনটে উপায়ের কথা ভেবেছি| তুমি য়ে ভাবে বলবে সে ভাবেই আমি তোমায় শাস্তি দেব|”‘
KJV : And the LORD spake unto Gad, David’s seer, saying,

ERVEN : Gad was David's seer. The Lord said to Gad, "Go and tell David: 'This is what the Lord says: I am going to give you three choices. You must choose one of them. Then I will punish you the way you choose.'"

KJV : Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three [things:] choose thee one of them, that I may do [it] unto thee.
YLT : `Go, and thou hast spoken unto David, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Three -- I am stretching out unto thee; choose for thee one of these, and I do [it] to thee.`

BNV : তখন, গাদ নির্দেশ মত দায়ূদকে গিয়ে বললেন, “প্রভু বলেছেন, ‘তোমায় শাস্তি দেবার জন্য তিনটি পথের কথা আমি ভেবেছি| প্রথমটি হল- তিন বছর দেশে দুর্ভিক্ষ হবে| দ্বিতীয়টি হল- যারা তরবারি নিয়ে তাড়া করবে সেই সব শএুদের কাছ থেকে তোমায় তিনমাস ধরে পালিয়ে বেড়াতে হবে| আর তৃতীয়টি হল- তিন দিন তোমাকে প্রভুর হাতে শাস্তি ভোগ করতে হবে| মহামারীতে দেশ ছেযে যাবে| প্রভুর দূতরা ইস্রায়েলের ঘরে ঘরে লোকদের প্রাণ নেবে|’ এবার তুমি বল আমি প্রভুকে কি জানাব|”
KJV : So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee

ERVEN : Then Gad went to David. He said to David, "The Lord says, 'David, choose which punishment you want: three years without enough food, or three months of running away from your enemies while they use their swords to chase you, or three days of punishment from the Lord. Terrible sicknesses will spread through the country, and the Lord's angel will go through Israel destroying the people.' David, God sent me. Now, you must decide which answer I will give to him."

KJV : Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh [thee;] or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

BNV : দায়ূদ গাদকে বললেন, “হায! কি বিপদে পড়েছি! আমি কি ভাবে শাস্তি পাবো তা ঠিক করার ভার আমি অন্যদের হাতে দিতে চাই না| প্রভু করুণাময, তিনিই আমায় যথাযোগ্য শাস্তি দেবেন|”
KJV : And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great [are] his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
YLT : And David saith unto Gad, `I am greatly distressed, let me fall, I pray thee, into the hand of Jehovah, for very many [are] His mercies, and into the hand of man let me not fall.`
RV : And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

ERVEN : David said to Gad, "I am in trouble! I don't want some man to decide my punishment. The Lord is very merciful, so let the Lord decide how to punish me."

BNV : অতঃপর প্রভু ইস্রায়েলে মহামারী পাঠালেন, তাতে 70,000 লোকের মৃত্যু হল|
KJV : So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

BNV : প্রভু জেরুশালেমকে ধ্বংস করতে এক জন দেবদূতও পাঠালেন| কিন্তু সে যখন জেরুশালেম ধ্বংস করতে শুরু করল তখন প্রভুর করুণা হল| যিবূষীয় অর্ণানের শস্য মাড়াইযের উঠানের কাছে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা সেই দূতকে প্রভু বললেন, “আর নয় থাক! য়থেষ্ট হয়েছে|”
KJV : And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
YLT : and God sendeth a messenger to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he is destroying Jehovah hath seen, and is comforted concerning the evil, and saith to the messenger who [is] destroying, `Enough, now, cease thy hand.` And the messenger of Jehovah is standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite,

ESV : And God sent the angel to Jerusalem to destroy it, but as he was about to destroy it, the LORD saw, and he relented from the calamity. And he said to the angel who was working destruction, "It is enough; now stay your hand." And the angel of the LORD was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
ERVEN : God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But when the angel started to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord saw it and felt sorry. So the Lord decided not to destroy Jerusalem. The Lord said to the angel who was destroying, "Stop! That is enough!" The angel of the Lord was standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

BNV : দায়ূদ ও নেতারা ওপরে তাকিযে, জেরুশালেমের ওপর প্রভুর তরবারি হাতে প্রভুর সেই দূতকে দেখতে পেলেন| তখন তারা শোকের পোশাক পরে আভূমি নত হলেন|
KJV : And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders [of Israel, who were] clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
YLT : and David lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the messenger of Jehovah standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falleth, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces.

ERVEN : David looked up and saw the Lord's angel in the sky. The angel was holding his sword over the city of Jerusalem. Then David and the elders bowed with their faces touching the ground. They were wearing the special clothes to show their sadness.

BNV : দায়ূদ ঈশ্বরকে বললেন, “আমি জনসংখ্যা গণনা করতে বলে পাপ করেছি| আমিই পাপাত্মা| ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা তো নিরপরাধ| প্রভু আমার ঈশ্বর, মহামারীতে ওদের প্রাণ না নিয়ে তুমি আমায় আর আমার পরিবারকে শাস্তি দাও|”
KJV : And David said unto God, [Is it] not I [that] commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but [as for] these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
YLT : And David saith unto God, `Did not I -- I say to number the people? Yea, I it [is] who have sinned, and done great evil: and these, the flock, what did they? O Jehovah, my God, let, I pray Thee, Thy hand be on me, and on the house of my father, and not on Thy people -- to be plagued.`
RV : And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be against me, and against my father-s house; but not against thy people, that they should be plagued.
RSV : And David said to God, "Was it not I who gave command to number the people? It is I who have sinned and done very wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be against me and against my father's house; but let not the plague be upon thy people."
ASV : And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, O Jehovah my God, be against me, and against my fathers house; but not against thy people, that they should be plagued.
ESV : And David said to God, "Was it not I who gave command to number the people? It is I who have sinned and done great evil. But these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O LORD my God, be against me and against my father's house. But do not let the plague be on your people."
ERVEN : David said to God, "I am the one who sinned. I gave the order for the people to be counted! I was wrong. The Israelites did not do anything wrong. Lord my God, punish me and my family, but stop the terrible sicknesses that are killing your people."

BNV : তখন প্রভুর দূত গাদকে বললেন, “দায়ূদকে যিবূষীয় অর্ণানের খামারের কাছে প্রভুর উপাসনার জন্য একটা বেদী নির্মাণ করতে বলো|”
KJV : Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
YLT : And the messenger of Jehovah spake unto Gad, saying for David, `Surely David doth go up to raise an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.`
RV : Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
RSV : Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David that David should go up and rear an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

ERVEN : Then the angel of the Lord spoke to Gad. He said, "Tell David to build an altar to worship the Lord. David must build that altar near the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite."

KJV : And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with [his] face to the ground.

KJV : Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of [this] threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
YLT : And David saith unto Ornan, `Give to me the place of the threshing-floor, and I build in it an altar to Jehovah; for full silver give it to me, and the plague is restrained from the people.`

BNV : অর্ণান দায়ূদকে বলল, “আপনিই আমার রাজা ও প্রভু| আপনার যদি প্রয়োজন হয় তাহলে আপনি অবশ্যই আমার শস্য মাড়াই এর ক্ষেত্রটা নিতে পারেন| এছাড়াও আমি হোমবলির জন্য আপনাকে ষাঁড় আর গম দিচ্ছি এবং মযদা শস্য নৈবেদ্যর জন্য আপনার যা কিছু দরকার সবই আপনাকে দেব|”
KJV : And Ornan said unto David, Take [it] to thee, and let my lord the king do [that which is] good in his eyes: lo,I give [thee] the oxen [also] for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

ERVEN : Araunah said to David, "Take this threshing floor. You are my Lord and king. Do anything you want. Look, I will also give you cattle for the burnt offering. And you can have the wooden threshing tools to burn for the fire on the altar. And I will give the wheat for the grain offering. I will give all this to you."

BNV : কিন্তু রাজা দায়ূদ উত্তর দিলেন, “না, তা সম্ভব নয়| আমি তোমার থেকে বিনা মূল্যে কিছু নিয়ে তা প্রভুকে দিতে পারব না| আমি ঈশ্বরকে এমন কিছুই দেব না যার জন্য আমায় দাম দিতে হবে না| তোমাকে আমি এ সব কিছুর পুরো দাম দেব|”
KJV : And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take [that] which [is] thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
